Welcome

Regeneration is a word often used in relation to cities.

Local & regional authorities have already regenerated many city centres with more moving in this direction.

As Christians we are not alone in our belief that it is not only the physical structures that need a make-over. It is surely true that spiritual & sociological regeneration is an aspiration of those in authority.

Prime Minister Tony Blair, speaking about the important role that churches and Christians play in local communities, said: "I would like to see you play a bigger not a lesser role in the future. I say this because of the visible, tangible difference you are making for the better in our society and for so many people. That is the proof of your faith in action in the service of others." (quote from Faithworks 2005 Election Lecture)

The County Towns Initiative provides an opportunity sensitively to communicate the life & society-changing results of a personal faith in Jesus.

All in a relaxed and informal setting over a very good meal.

Rt Hon The Lord Mawhinney Kt was the keynote speaker at a dinner for those in positions of influence and authority in Calderdale. He shared about his life, how his Christian faith has affected his role as an MP, and how true regeneration of society occurs when spiritual and sociological issues are addressed.

County Towns dinners took place nationwide during a two week period, 30th March - 12th April 2006. With 25 events, 14,000 of the most influential people in society will hear the Good News - simultaneously! Other dinners are to be held in different towns over the next few years with plans for a further Calderdale event to be made in 2007.
